In the session titled "What’s new in Apple device management and identity" at WWDC 2025, several updates were introduced for Platform Single Sign-On (pSSO):
-
Streamlined Registration: Platform SSO registration is now integrated into the Setup Assistant during automated device enrollment. This change allows users to authenticate with their identity provider right from the start, streamlining the setup process for Mac deployments.
-
Authenticated Guest Mode: A new mode optimized for shared use environments, allowing users to log into a Mac using their cloud identity directly from the login window. This mode supports authentication via password or smart card and requires the Mac to be online.
-
Tap to Login: This feature improves the login experience in shared use environments by allowing users to log in quickly using corporate badges or school IDs stored in Apple Wallet.
These updates aim to simplify the deployment and management of Macs in organizational settings, enhancing both individual and shared use cases. For more details, you can refer to the session What’s new in Apple device management and identity (14:42).
